To help Alton celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, a number of Alton's musical groups prepared a programme of entertainment for the High Street crowds. Many were dressed up, some ready for the hat competition.

Minden Rose retired to the Swan for tea

Our first dance was Uptails - the crowds hadn't yet grown.

but they were soon gathered behind the band

Our set ended with the Rose

The entertainment concluded with a chance for everyone to dance.
